The new model BRISTOL FIGHTER strikes my fancy,,,mmmHmmmm!! 8) & I am asking fellow French car lovers to assist with donations to help me realize my 'autodream'.
IF you all sold your houses, with the proceeds I could possibly afford to order & aquire one of these lovely BRITISH cars.
C'mon friends- google up <bristol car co>..(or something like that & ...YOU too will want one!)
They also have cheaper, slower models for those with less funds at their disposal.
"What do you all think of my suggestion?" NAH! I know how much you all wanna help & I really appreciate it!
Thanks ever so much & I will go for a drive in my R12 now.
(Poor ol' marcel is having a total breakdown & I've finally called 000 for his benefit- sincere apologies to all, Mrs B.) _________________ King of the Road/REGIE |

I think if you're successful I'll have one too - so please just canvas any obliging suckers you've accrued to cough up double funds and we are then both happy men _________________ Renault Megane RenaultSport 225 Turbo Cup

Talking of Bristols, I would much rather a 401 than a late model machine. Love the shape, and of course the BMW heritage, and it is still fast enough for todays traffic. _________________ '89 Renault Alpine GTA V6 Turbo

YES! How wonderful it would be! I wouldn't hesitate if I had the fund$$$$- the more the merrier!
All over the globe, certain folks without any ethics or scruples are busy 'scamming' up billion$$$$, while those of us who refuse to "Cross a Certain Line" remain NON-RICH - not that I'm complaining!
(Actually, I have only "canvassed" you guys so far, as I know you know I'm only joking)..................
The humble R12 is very satisfactory & in my younger days (prior to my 'financial crash') ...I had the privilege of owning many lovely fast expensive cars - now WAY beyond my reach!
I'm so grateful to live here as I get older & not in Bangladesh/Iraq or similar hells.
We are so lucky despite the nasty folks & other issues we may dislike!
I WILL get one for you, renman, if my luck changes & a nice 401 for you too Alan.
Actually, I really prefer the earlier models- from the '400 - 411' BUT when looking at NEW cars, the FIGHTER certainly is an impressive change for BRISTOL & would be distinctly unique, if somewhat over-priced!
The history of the 'Car Company' after WW11, using the BMW and then Tony Crook's input, particularly the use of the simple, cheap & reliable CHRYSLER motor/auto-trans (which was a rather clever move) has been an interesting story & I like the concept of a car that is STILL being 'built to last'! I hope it continues - like MORGAN cars.
[Bring back ALPINE !!!!!!!!!!!.......& GORDINI....and......]
I like the shapes of all pre-1975 models & the new cars have returned to a more 'stylish' look than during the late 1970s, '80s & early 1990s & the 400/401 models & all with the 2 litre 6 cylinder engines are sweet cars, even tho' many faster cars,(Jaguar, etc) were available for vastly lower prices. I'd love to ride/drive/see one in the 'metal'?
However, the better looking BRISTOLS always retained 'quiet unpretentious lines' that (for me), do not 'date' with time. 8)
I do wish they made some 'manual-gearbox' models but the Torqueflite is a good 'auto' for the big V8.
Anyway, we can DREAM, can't we ?
In reality I'm much more likely to acquire an ALPINE GTA, which would make me VERY HAPPY in my 'dotage'...just like you lucky 8)"chats".
ps ; trivial puisuit= ("Bristol Fashion" is a 'yachting-term' for perfection of a boat's appearance & condition...but I'm sure you guys already knew that!)
Anyway, thanks for 'talking Bristols', enjoy your Renaults & take care all.
Regards, Mark. _________________ King of the Road/REGIE |

So what were the cars ? I'd like to hear about them.
Also thanks for the offer of a Bristol - I'll have mine in dark blue metallic pls
Also I think there has been one of those British crime shows where the lead bloke Inspector Lynley has a red Bristol 410. I can remember the car but not much else about the show _________________ Renault Megane RenaultSport 225 Turbo Cup

AH! YES! Lord Lynley has a GLORIOUS burgundy BRISTOL does he not? 8)
I must check up but I suspect it is a 1965-7 '409' model with the CHRYSLER
6.3 litre & t/flite trans...get back to you on that.
At present I'm looking at a lovely photo of a metallic 'chamois-gold' color
409...DROOLING all over the mag
I think the 409 is the model I would choose but as for
colour...Hmmm...that shall take some serious thought!
I'll get your's in dk BLUE of course but what colour interior?
The 'OTHER' Brit-crime-show that featured a BRISTOL was
"THE SWEENEY" from the late 1970s I think?
I'm not certain but I think it was a later 411-412 OR even perhaps a later
6=SERIES BRISTOL.
This show had quite a following but I was living
'feral' at the time without TV, so only recall very brief glimpses of "THE
SWEENY" but I do recall it's scenes of TERRIFYING motorvating!
I'll do some BRISTOL-TV-Research & post it for you! 8)
I hope we get our BRISTOLS & ONE Alpine GTA for myself someday
renman, as we MUST keep our "dreams alive" VROooM VROOoM
8)
